NORC at the University of Chicago is an objective, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to delivering high-quality data and analysis.
As part of the Strategic Communications team, I ensure that all design materials align with NORC’s brand standards while being visually compelling and strategically effective. My work includes designing infographics for internal teams, organization-wide initiatives, and external audiences; curating stock photography to support research projects and expert insights; and developing UX/UI components in Figma for integration into our AEM web system—a project that has further strengthened my passion for UX/UI design.
Infographics
As a research organization, effectively visualizing information is a top priority. I have created a variety of infographics, like the ones shown here, for both internal and external use, supporting communication across departments and throughout the organization.
Management Training Program Infographic
Shown above is a before-and-after comparison of my design work for the Human Resources team at NORC, focused on revamping their Management Training Program materials. We began with the slide on the left, an initial draft by the HR team, and evolved it into a more cohesive and visually aligned system.
The final product included an extended set of branded slides that brought clarity and consistency to the program’s messaging. As the project progressed, we identified a need to further break down and visualize each sector of the organization, leading to the development of detailed zoom-ins for each area.
Design Systems
NORC is continuously working to keep its website modern, visually effective, and up-to-date. As part of this effort, the organization has been transitioning to Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) for web development.
The Design team has collaborated closely with IT’s AEM team to create developer-friendly assets in Figma, ensuring a smooth integration into the AEM system. To the right is a small snippet of the Figma components I’ve been working on.
Through this project, I’ve discovered a real passion for Design Systems—I love the structured, step-by-step process of building assets that layer seamlessly together!
Social Media
In recent months, social media outreach has become a growing priority at NORC. Our focus has been on leveraging the organization’s incredible research to create engaging, easy-to-digest content for digital audiences.
Designing for short-form media presented a fun challenge—balancing clarity, visual appeal, and information density. We drew inspiration from leading news sources like The Atlantic to refine our approach.
Pictured here are Instagram slides designed as part of this initiative.
LinkedIn Headers
A selection of LinkedIn headers created for NORC staff, using the data-as-art theme.
Email Design
As part of NORC’s evolving digital communication strategy, our team created a scalable email body template to support more consistent and accessible outreach. The goal was to streamline how the organization shares research, news, and impact stories across internal and external audiences.
Designing the template meant focusing on hierarchy, legibility, and brand alignment—ensuring flexibility across departments while maintaining visual coherence. We established a modular system that allowed content creators to easily adapt layouts without compromising design integrity.
Pictured here is the core body template and examples of how it’s been implemented across multiple campaigns.
